Minister of Health and Social Welfare at the Government of Darfur Region, Babiker Hamdeen, has described the situation in El-Fashir as “catastrophic.”

He said that the rebel terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has vansalized hospitals, assassinated and arrested medical cadres, and destroyed schools and service facilities in Darfur, in addition to the scarcity of medicines and the difficulty of delivering supplies.

Hamdeen confirmed, in a press statement, that the terrorist rebel RSF militia has been using starvation as a weapon to evacuate the city of its residents and seize control, urging international and humanitarian organizations to pressure the militia to lift the siege on ElFasher. He revealed a dramatic increase in the prices of basic commodities in El-Fashir due to the siege imposed by this terrorist rebel militia on the city.

He said that the price of a bag of sorghum (dura) has reached approximately 3 million Sudanese pounds, equivalent to $1,000, which has led to a severe humanitarian crisis in the city.
