New controls for transparency in Sudan and to protect minerals from corruption

Prime Minister Kamil Idris has stressed the importance of strengthening the country’s mining operations according to new visions and controls, with the aim of protecting the sector from corruption and ensuring maximum benefit for citizens through growth and prosperity.
Idris asserted that the Government of Hope attaches great importance to the mining sector, given its pivotal role in strengthening the national economy and driving development.
During a meeting held at his office in Port Sudan, the Prime Minister listened to a comprehensive briefing by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Minerals, Dr. Hind Al-Siddiq, in which she reviewed the most prominent challenges facing the mining sector, in addition to the visions and future plans capable of achieving the advancement of this strategic sector.
Prime Minister reiterated the government’s determination to establish clear and transparent foundations for the management of the mining sector, protecting it from any attempts at corruption or waste, ensuring that its revenues are directly reflected in the lives and well-being of citizens, and contributing to building a strong and resilient national economy.
For her part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Minerals explained, in press statements following the meeting, that the Ministry of Minerals received full support from the Prime Minister, as part of the government’s efforts to maximize the national economy’s benefits from the mining sector and develop it to achieve maximum benefit for the state and citizens.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Minerals revealed that the discussion with the Prime Minister addressed the need to promote sustainable mining practices in accordance with international standards, noting the importance of focusing on better regulating the sector, implementing strict oversight, and optimally utilizing mining revenues to serve the country’s interests.
