Missile Attack on Militia Training Camp North of Nyala
Witnesses and sources reported on Sunday that a guided missile attack was launched on a rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia training camp north of Nyala.
Eyewitnesses from the northeast neighborhoods of Nyala told Darfur 24 that they heard two explosions within close proximity of each other, causing strong shaking in homes. The explosions were accompanied by columns of smoke rising towards Sagra Mountain, located on the El-Fashir road.
Identical sources disclosed that the explosion targeted the UNAMID headquarters (the Super Camp), which was handed over to the Sudanese government in 2022 for civilian use, which the rebel RSF later converted it into a training facility for its personnel.
One source stated that the airstrike killed a number of soldiers, while the injured were taken to a hospital in the Al-Jabal neighborhood, east of Nyala.
Among the injured were soldiers Haitham and Adam, who suffered fractures in their right and left feet and head.
The sources did not provide figures for the casualties and injuries, given that some soldiers had disappeared and the charred bodies of some had been destroyed following the bombing of the headquarters.
One source indicated that the bombing was scheduled for Friday, the only day on which soldiers do not go out. He explained that on the remaining days, they leave the camp after 7:00 AM, which is 13 kilometers long and an extension of the Mazlakan camp near Wadi Ander. He described the procedures taken by the camp command regarding entry and exit as strict, including searches and prohibiting the use of photographs of soldiers and officers.
