Minister of Industry: We are close to achieving self-sufficiency in edible oils and flour

Minister of Industry Mahasin Yagoub admitted that the war affected 90% of the industrial sector, nevertheless, factories have begun to recover in safe states.
Mahasin revealed, in an interview with (Sudanese Echoes), that all sugar factories in the country have been impeded except for the Kenana Sugar Factory. She explained that Kenana Sugar Factory covers only 14.5% of the country’s consumption. She added that 143 oil presses have been restarted in a number of states, covering about 70% of local consumption. The minister pointed out that 13 flour mills are operating with an actual capacity of 4,470 tons per day, while daily consumption is estimated at (5,620) tons, expecting the entry of 4 new mills that will contribute to meeting daily consumption.
As for cement factories, she revealed that 4 cement factories have resumed work out of 6 factories in Sudan.
