Militia Violations in Al-Gezira… Shocking Stories and Horrific Tales

Report: Al-Tayib Abbas

On October 21, the eastern part of Al-Gezira witnessed one of the worst violations in modern times. In its hydrophobic campaign of retaliation, the rebel militia swept away life from everything that pulsed; humans, animals and plants, and turned the villages and cities of the eastern part of Al-Gezira that were once teeming with activity into large cemeteries, shrouded in silence, sadness and desolation.

Knife Confrontation

Haj Abdullah Mohamed Salih (75) years old from the village of (Al-Meheidat Om Balli (18) kilometers north of Tamboul, took refuge in his home, embracing some sheep, a donkey and a cart, which are all he owns, and a few young men from his family remained with him. A militia force came to the village of (Al-Meheidat Om Balli). When they reached Abdullah’s house, they found him with two young men, who asked them after looting their phones to leave the village quickly. The two young men complied with the order. But the militia members were surprised by Abdullah refusing to leave. One of them grabbed his beard and dragged him towards him, so Abdullah took out his knife and stabbed it in the heart of the militiaman and wounded another next to him before the thugs opened fire on him and killed him instantly.

Sacrifice and Pain

About (35) kilometers away from Haj Abdullah’s location, specifically in Rafa’a, Ismail, his wife and his two daughters wrote another heroic epic, where they confronted heavily armed militia elements stormed their house with weapons.

Ismail’s brother, who arrived at the house after it was looted and the militia members left, said that he found his brother lying on the ground, his wife and eldest daughter (lying) on the ground behind the door, bleeding, while the youngest girl, who is (18) years old, was still alive despite being shot. What he understood from her was that they defended themselves with kitchen knives when they felt that the militia’s goal was to rape the two girls and not just steal. Her father died first while confronting the militia members with the kitchen knife, then her mother refused to surrender and hid behind the door with her eldest daughter. When they did not come out, the militia opened heavy fire, making holes in the door, and the mother and her eldest daughter fell dead. The bullets reached the youngest girl later.

Ismail’s brother left the house alone because the little girl had already died from her wounds.

Facing the Militia Alone

The date is October 22nd, in Tamboul. After the militia took control of the city that evening, they stormed the homes of citizens to obtain spoils. The young man, Hassan Al-Omda, was in his house, refusing to leave it. He used a cover and waited for the militia. At 7:30 pm, the mercenaries climbed over the wall of his house and immediately exchanged fire with them. He had enough ammunition, a sniper rifle, and a Kalashnikov. He fought with them for ten full hours. His neighbors say that they kept hearing the exchange of fire throughout the night, without succeeding in entering the house or silencing Hassan. At 6 am, after his ammunition ran out, the sound of gunfire finally ceased. Later, the neighbors found Hassan Al-Omda lying on the ground, with the ammunition completely crushing his body. They found traces of blood in the place where the militia members were stationed next to the wall.
