Letter from Sudan to the Security Council on UAE’s support for the terrorist RSF militia

Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Al-Harith Idris Al-Harith, has stated that the letter submitted by the Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the United Nations, dated April 29, 2025, was full of fundamental fallacies and failed attempts to evade international responsibility.

In his letter to the President of the Security Council, in response to the UAE representative’s letter yesterday, Ambassador Al-Harith stated that the UAE representative’s behavior and positions have become completely aligned with the orientations and positions of the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia sponsored by his country, pointing to the terrorist militia’s horrific violations and crimes.

He added in the letter, “The UAE representative has repeatedly violated the accepted norms and etiquette of diplomatic communication by repeatedly referring to the Permanent Representative of Sudan as a representative of the Sudanese army, in clear violation of Article (2)-1 of the UN Charter, which stipulates the principle of sovereign equality among all members.”

He added, “For the record, the Sudanese army, which the UAE representative is attacking, played a fundamental role in the establishment of the UAE Armed Forces.”

Ambassador Al-Harith refuted the UAE representative’s letter, citing international reports and documents, as well as journalistic and investigative reports by credible international media outlets, which prove the UAE’s direct involvement in igniting the armed conflict in Sudan by sending weapons and military equipment to the RSF militia.

Al-Harith indicated that the UAE representative’s claim that the final report of the Panel of Experts lacked any condemnation of the UAE is an inaccurate allegation, indicating that the report did not receive the team’s unanimous approval, as it was not signed by all five experts, in clear violation of the Sanctions Committee’s procedural rules, referring to the objective reservations from a number of Security Council members within the corridors of the Sanctions Committee itself.
