Killings and Mutilation of Bodies: Al-Hilu Forces Commit Massacre in Kauda

At least 20 people were killed, including women, children, and elderly residents, while others were injured, following a violent attack carried out by a force affiliated with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu) on the village of Dabi in the Kauda area of South Kordofan State. The attack reportedly stemmed from a bloody dispute over local boundary demarcation.

Local sources told Darfur24 that the crisis erupted after a delegation from the movement placed stakes to mark new boundaries in the area. Residents rejected the move and removed the markers.

The situation escalated dramatically in the early hours of March 12, when an armed force attacked the village, setting large parts of it ablaze and causing deaths by burning inside homes. Eyewitnesses also reported an incident involving the mutilation of one victim’s body, triggering an unprecedented wave of anger and tension.
