Kaykal’s swift operations in Al-Gezira terrify the militia
The army and Sudan Shield Forces, led by Maj. Gen. Abu Agla Kaykal, carried out a lightning operation on Monday by entering the areas controlled by the militia in villages, northeastern Al-Gezira State adjacent to Khartoum State.
Kaykal, who defected from the Rapid Support Forecs (RSF) militia and joined the army last October, appeared among his soldiers in the town of Wad Rawa, about 70 kilometers north of the Sudanese capital on the eastern road linking Khartoum and Wad Madani.
Later, soldiers affiliated with Kaykal broadcast video clips from the village of Al-Aidj, near the town of Wad Rawa.
The commander of the Sudan Shield Forces, Abu Agla Kaykal, said in a video clip, that his forces had taken control of the city of Wad Rawa, east of Al-Gezira State.
He pointed out, while reviewing the militia’s seized combat vehicles, that the operation came within the framework of regaining control of Al-Gezira State, whose capital, Wad Madani, and some of its parts have been controlled by the militia since December of last year.
The Sudan Shield Forces seized five combat vehicles equipped with anti-aircraft weapons, in addition to killing and capturing a number of RSF elements.
