Interior Minister Reassures Citizens: No Cause for Concern, Capital Free of Military Formations
Interior Minister Lt. Gen. (Police) Babiker Samra, acting chair of the committee, chaired the sixth meeting of the Khartoum State Security Control and State Authority Enforcement Committee for 2026, in the presence of Director General of the Police Forces, Gen. (Police) Amir Abdelmoneim Fadl and committee members from relevant entities.
Police spokesperson Brig. Gen.( Police) Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Tom told the Police Press Office that the meeting reviewed reports from various committees. The committee tasked with clearing Khartoum of military formations and collecting weapons affirmed that the state is free of military forces. Any visible presence, he explained, falls within operational arrangements managed by operations rooms and is conducted with the committee’s knowledge, stressing that there is no cause for public concern regarding such deployments.
He added that the central operations room responsible for securing Khartoum State confirmed that security and criminal conditions remain calm, with patrol operations continuing.
Authorities have recovered more than 11,000 items looted from citizens, including electrical appliances and various household belongings.
The crossings, he noted, recorded more than 106 reports related to drug and weapons violations.
Meanwhile, the mechanism combating motorcycles—commonly referred to as “Nine Long”—has made significant efforts, leading to the filing of 80 cases and the seizure of 87 motorcycles used in looting operations.
He further stated that the central operations room is working to expand the deployment of surveillance cameras and increase emergency response vehicles, with the aim of reassuring citizens and enhancing service delivery, affirming that Khartoum is enjoying stability due to the efforts of the central operations room, which brings together all security committees in the state.
