Including Two Women, Sudan’s Prime Minister Appoints Five Ministers and Three State Ministers
Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris issued a decision on Sunday appointing five ministers and three ministers of state to the new government.
The appointments included Limia Abdel-Ghaffar as Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Moatsim Ibrahim Ahmed as Minister of Energy.
The decision also appointing Ahmed Al-Dirdiri Ghandour as Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, Al-Tuhami Al-Zein Hajar as Minister of Education and Patriotism, and Ahmed Adam Ahmed as Minister of Youth and Sports.
Ambassador Omar Mohamed Ahmed Siddig was also appointed State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Nour Abdel-Dayim as State Minister for Finance, and Suleima Ishag Mohamed as State Minister for Human Resources and Social Welfare.
These appointments bring the total number of ministers appointed so far to 20, out of the 22 portfolios Idris announced on June 19, indicating that he would immediately begin announcing the ministerial appointments gradually.
The Sudanese Prime Minister pledged at the time to “achieve fair appointments based on the most competent, experienced, worthy, and those with the highest reputation and integrity,” noting that he would avoid quotas in his selection of ministers.
