Heavy Weapons Clashes Between Militia Elements in Nyala

Renewed clashes between Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia members erupted in Nyala, with heavy weapons used in the clashes.

Local sources revealed to Darfur Now that clashes between RSF elements have resumed for the third time in two days. This follows the bloody clashes that erupted on Saturday between RSF members from the Misseriya and Beni Halba tribes, which resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including Major General Ahmed Barakat Allah, and a number of wounded, some of whom are in critical condition.

On Sunday morning, violent clashes broke out with heavy weapons and artillery around the Nyala North Court, leading to chaos and panic, with the remaining members of the force stationed there fleeing towards Al-Salam, Al-Derwa, and “Khartoum at Night” neighborhoods. Sources confirmed that an unidentified force on five motorcycles launched a surprise attack on militia units outside the Nyala courthouse, using RPGs. The attack resulted in the destruction of two Land Cruiser combat vehicles before the force withdrew towards Al-Geneina market bus station.
