Heavy Explosions Shake Nyala Airport

Al-Onwan 24 Channel reported that the Sudanese army targeted military positions belonging to the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia inside Nyala International Airport, South Darfur, at 2 a.m., just before the arrival of a military plane coming from a country in Africa.

The channel reported hearing heavy explosions around Nyala Airport and to the east, including a Rapid Support Forces training center.

Al-Onwan 24 Channel’s correspondent confirmed that the plane diverted to an airport believed to be in Central Darfur, as it was unable to secure landing permission in Nyala. The plane circled for about 15 minutes before leaving Nyala and heading toward Central Darfur.
