Government of Sudan decides to extend opening of Adari crossing three months more

Government of Sudan has decided to keep the Idri crossing open for three months starting from February 16, in line with its commitment to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to areas affected by the war, particularly Darfur states, using all available border crossings for this purpose.
This came in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, in which the government confirmed that the step will lead to alleviating the suffering of the people of Darfur.
Government of Sudan reminded with the necessity of taking decisive measures against the Janjaweed militia and its regional sponsor to abide by the Security Council resolutions to lift the siege on the city of El-Fashir and the camps of the displaced persons (IDPs), stop attacking them and not to use the crossing to bring in weapons and supplies to be used in killing defenseless civilians, as well as to ensure that the militia does not obstruct or control the passage of humanitarian aid.
