Government Moves to Rein in Fuel Prices
Minister of Energy Al-Mu’tasim Ibrahim chaired a joint meeting with the Governor of Central Bank of Sudan Amina Mirghani and the Fuel Import Committee, alongside senior officials and economic security authorities.
The meeting examined the repercussions of the Gulf crisis on Sudan’s fuel supply and reviewed regulatory measures governing fuel imports, including coordination with public and private sector companies, financing mechanisms, and cost controls aimed at curbing price increases and ensuring availability.
It also assessed Cabinet directives to tighten oversight of import operations, focusing on companies’ technical and financial capacity, storage infrastructure, and distribution networks, while aligning imports with actual national demand. Fuel remains classified as a strategic commodity.
