Gebriel Ibrahim: We Will Not Accept UAE Rule Over Us

The Head of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and Minister of Finance, Dr. Gebriel Ibrahim, has downplayed the usefulness of any political dialogue that keeps the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in the political or military scene, considering such dialogue to be unproductive and paving the way for the re-occupation of Sudan.

In an interview with “Darfur Now”, Gebriel said: “We are not against dialogue as a principle, but we cannot accept a dialogue that keeps this militia, which was a hired gun and then brought in foreigners to occupy the country, and thank Allah, it did not succeed”.

He added that the presence of the RSF militia in the scene means accepting the UAE project in Sudan, warning: “If we accept the RSF militia as a partner in the state, we have effectively accepted that the UAE would rule us, and this is something that is absolutely out of the question.”
