Gas Leak on Pipeline Near Port Sudan Refinery Brought Under Control

Activists in the city of Port Sudan circulated a video showing a gas leak from a transmission pipeline near the Port Sudan refinery, urging residents and motorists to stay away from the area, particularly after the gas spread toward the main road.

They said Civil Defense teams rushed to the site to address the malfunction and called on citizens and drivers near the refinery area to exercise caution, avoid the vicinity of the incident, and follow safety instructions issued by security authorities until full containment was announced.

Technical teams from the Sudanese Petroleum Corporation, in coordination with Civil Defense forces, later succeeded in fully containing the limited gas leak that occurred in the gas transmission line adjacent to the Port Sudan refinery.

Immediately after the incident was reported, emergency protocols were activated and specialized teams responded swiftly by isolating the affected line and shutting down the main valves as a precautionary measure.

The joint efforts succeeded in containing and treating the leak in record time without any material losses or human injuries. Authorities confirmed that the situation has now been fully stabilized and movement in the surrounding area has returned to normal.
