Forensic Medicine Authority transport and buries 3,800 bodies in Khartoum

The Khartoum State Ministry of Health stated that the Forensic Medicine Authority was the sole entity authorized to receive reports of the presence of bodies in Khartoum State, in addition to its responsibility and jurisdiction over all morgues in the state.

The ministry confirmed that the authority has been responsible for transporting bodies throughout the war from any area cleared of rebel militia presence in Khartoum State and burying them in designated cemeteries.

The ministry clarified that the Forensic Medicine Authority has not received any reports of the transfer of a body from the Doha suburb of Omdurman, the details of which were reported on electronic media. Media outlets indicated that the cost of transporting the body is estimated at 4 million Sudanese pounds.

The ministry emphasized that the Omdurman Locality has a specialized committee for transporting and burying bodies, led by the Forensic Medicine Authority, and that the procedures are carried out free of charge.

The head of the Khartoum State Forensic Medicine Authority, Dr. Hisham Zain Al-Abidin, announced that the Forensic Medicine Authority teams, in cooperation with partners, transferred 3,800 bodies and took charge of burying them in various cemeteries during the war period and when Khartoum was declared free of the rebel militia, and after receiving reports of the presence of bodies in homes and inside squares in residential neighborhoods and in health institutions, ministries and universities.
