Ethiopia’s Fano and Tigray Form Military Alliance to Oust Abiy Ahmed Government

Ethiopia’s Amhara Fano group has announced the formation of a new military alliance bringing together forces from the Tigray region and several armed groups opposed to the federal government, according to Swiss newspaper Le Temps.

Fano leader Zemene Kassie said the alliances are aimed directly at uniting armed groups opposing Addis Ababa.

The unprecedented move brings together factions and groups that had previously been engaged in violent conflicts and clashes with one another, as part of joint and coordinated efforts to oust Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and change the current government.
