Egypt: Sudan’s Unity and Stability Are a Red Line, Its Security Integral to Egypt’s National Security

 

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel Ati, met with Sudanese Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Limaa Abdel Ghaffar, on the sidelines of the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Cairo.

 

During the meeting, Abdel Ati reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Sudan amid the ongoing crisis, emphasizing Cairo’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Sudan’s territorial integrity and supporting its national institutions. He reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempts to undermine Sudan’s sovereignty or interfere in its internal affairs, which could threaten its national cohesion.

 

The minister highlighted principles expressed by President Abdel-Fattah El Sisi during his recent meeting President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), with General Abdel-Fattah Al Burhan, underscoring that “Sudan’s unity and stability represent a red line” and that Sudanese security is an integral part of Egypt’s national security.

 

The discussions covered several key areas, including Egypt’s ongoing efforts within the “International Quartet” to support de-escalation and create conditions for a comprehensive political solution that preserves the state’s integrity.

 

Both sides also reviewed Egyptian development projects in Sudan aimed at supporting services and reconstruction. Abdel Ati affirmed Egypt’s continued provision of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and support their resilience during this critical period.

 

For her part, Minister Limaa Abdel Ghaffar expressed Sudan’s deep appreciation, on behalf of both the government and the people, for Egypt’s pivotal and supportive role, highlighting the high level of coordination between the two countries in all international forums.
