Egypt Reaffirms Support for Sudan’s Sovereignty, Urges Neighbouring States to Respect Its Independence
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel-Aatty met on Monday with the European Union’s Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, to discuss the latest developments in the Horn of Africa and efforts to promote security, stability, and sustainable development across the region.
During the meeting, Abdel-Aatty reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Sudan’s security, stability, unity, territorial integrity, and national institutions. He stressed the importance of neighbouring countries respecting Sudan’s sovereignty and security and refraining from interfering in its internal affairs.
The Egyptian foreign minister also underscored the need to halt all forms of escalation, prioritize Sudan’s national interest, and engage seriously in a Sudanese-owned political process leading to a comprehensive settlement that preserves the country’s sovereignty and fulfills the Sudanese people’s aspirations for security, stability, and development.
