Direct Banking Transfers Between Sudan and China Begin

Sudan’s Ambassador to China, Omar Issa, announced the official launch of direct banking transfers between the Omdurman National Bank and both Shanghai Bank and the People’s Bank of China, in a move described as a significant step toward facilitating financial transactions between the two countries.

In a radio statement, the ambassador said the development crowns diplomatic efforts carried out over the past period to ease banking procedures for Sudanese nationals residing in China and enable them to conduct financial transfers more easily and securely.

He added that Chinese authorities have also approved the opening of a bank account for the Agricultural Bank of Sudan, expanding the scope of banking cooperation and strengthening Sudanese financial institutions’ ability to manage their operations within China.

The ambassador said the new mechanism will provide a secure, fast, and low-cost channel for transfers, meeting the needs of students, businesspeople, and traders, while boosting trade and investment between Sudan and China amid the growing economic relations between the two countries.
