Decisive Egyptian Messages in El-Sisi’s Meeting with the Haftar Family

 

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received General Commander of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Haftar, in the presence of Libyan National Army Chief of Staff Khaled Haftar, Qassem Haftar, Director of the Libya Reconstruction Fund, and Hassan Rashad, Head of the General Intelligence Service.

 

 

 

 

Official Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said that President El-Sisi welcomed Field Marshal Haftar’s visit, stressing the depth of the fraternal relations between Egypt and Libya and emphasizing the importance of strengthening the historic ties between the two brotherly countries.

 

 

 

 

President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s steadfast position on Libya, based on the need to preserve the country’s unity and unify Libyan institutions, while emphasizing the importance of holding parliamentary and presidential elections. He also reaffirmed Egypt’s continued support for Libya’s security and stability, as well as its commitment to promoting development and prosperity and ensuring the unity and territorial integrity of Libya.

 

 

 

The meeting also addressed opportunities for joint cooperation in ways that would strengthen the fruitful partnership between the two countries.

 

 

 

 

For his part, Field Marshal Haftar expressed his appreciation for visiting Egypt, commending its significant efforts to support peace, security, and stability in the region. He affirmed his support for initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability in Libya and preserving its unity, while stressing his commitment to continuing coordination with Egypt to address common challenges and achieve comprehensive development.
