Death of 239 Children from Starvation – Resistance Committees: Residents of El-Fashir Have Tasted Betrayal and Felt the Pain of Silence

The Coordination of the Resistance Committees in El-Fashir announced the death of 239 children from starvation as a result of the militia siege imposed on the city.

On its Facebook page, the Coordination posted a photo of a woman sitting in shock beside the body of her daughter, Hajar Ishaq, who died of hunger while fleeing El-Fashir.

In a post filled with anguish, the Coordination directed a searing question to the world and the international community:“Why are their stories not told, and their suffering not conveyed?”

It added:“Why does the world remain silent—as if hunger does not kill, and as if crying cannot be heard?”

The Resistance Committees urged the international community to abandon what they described as selective compassion toward certain causes and tragedies, emphasizing that:“We are one people and one body; if one part suffers, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever.”

They further warned against failing what they called a moral and humanitarian test, adding:“The taste of betrayal is more bitter than gall.”

The statement concluded that the people of El-Fashir have tasted betrayal and experienced the pain of silence.
