Conflicting Reports Emerge Over Fate of Abdel Rahim Dagalo

Reports have sharply diverged in recent hours over the fate of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia second-in-command Abdel Rahim Dagalo, with some reports saying he was killed in an airstrike in Darfur Region, while other accounts maintain that he is in Ethiopia planning new military operations.

Sources told Al-Onwan 24 that strong reports confirmed the death of Abdel Rahim Dagalo in a precise military strike carried out by the army in Nyala. Preliminary information indicated that the attack targeted a secret facility where Dagalo was staying with a number of the militia’s prominent field commanders, killing him and injuring others.

In contrast, an informed source told Darfur 24 that reports of his death were untrue, saying that a video recently circulated showing Abdel Rahim Dagalo in Darfur was an old video dating back to 2025. The source said the purpose of recirculating the video at this time was to portray Dagalo as being present in the field with his forces, in an effort to boost the morale of the militia’s demoralized members.

The same source asserted that Dagalo is currently in Ethiopia near the Sudanese border, revealing that he held an expanded meeting on Monday with a number of Ethiopian contractors specializing in recruiting and bringing fighters from Ethiopia and Somalia.

According to the source, the meeting discussed arrangements to bring in large numbers of foreign mercenaries and train them to use heavy weapons and drones, with the aim of carrying out military operations and skirmishes along the Sudanese border and in areas of Blue Nile to distract the army and impede its rapid advance toward regaining control of Darfur.
The source confirmed that a trusted individual personally saw Dagalo entering the meeting hall at noon on Tuesday.
