Cholera ravages Kosti, Sudan… A terrifying outbreak and dozens of victims in a few days

The city of Kosti, located in southern Sudan, has follen into the grip of an unprecedented health disaster, with the cholera epidemic spreading horribly, amid a frightening increase in the number of infections and deaths, in light of the authorities’ inability to depict a clear picture of the extent of the tragedy.

Medical sources revealed to “Al Arabiya.net” and “Al Hadath.net” that Kosti Hospital received no less than 800 confirmed cases in just 48 hours, while the official death toll reached 38 people. However, field sources warned that the real toll may be much higher, as relief teams documented the deaths of 33 people inside residential neighborhoods before arriving at the hospital, which raises the total estimates to 71 victims so far.

Field reports attributed the worsening of the crisis to the complete power outage in the state.
