Casualties and Deaths Following Artillery Shelling on Dilling

Medical workers and humanitarian volunteers have confirmed that artillery shelling targeting the market area in the city of Dilling on Saturday afternoon resulted in both injuries and fatalities among civilians, noting that the city experienced moments of severe panic as a result of the attacks.

The Sudanese Armed Forces maintain control over Dilling after breaking a siege on the city at the end of January 2026, pushing back the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N) to positions outside and around the city’s outskirts, and securing a vital route for the delivery of supplies and humanitarian aid.

A humanitarian volunteer from Dilling in South Kordofan State told Ultra Sudan that the shelling of the Dilling market, which she said was carried out by the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North, led to the killing and injuring of civilians.

She added: “The number of fatalities has not yet been fully determined. It was a very difficult moment for residents due to the artillery shelling, but what is confirmed is that there are dead and wounded as a result of shells fired from long-range artillery positions deployed by the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North outside the city of Dilling.”
