AUC Chairperson Welcomes Appointment of Civilian Prime Minister in Sudan

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Mahmoud Ali Yusuf, has welcomed the appointment of Dr. Kamil El-Tayeb Idris as Prime Minister of the Republic of Sudan.

The AUC Chairperson commended this development as a step towards inclusive governance, hoping that it would contribute effectively to the ongoing efforts to restore constitutional order and democratic rule in Sudan.

Yusuf called on all Sudanese stakeholders to redouble their efforts to achieve a peaceful and inclusive transition under civilian leadership that reflects the aspirations of the Sudanese people. He noted that the Commission remains ready to support Sudan in this regard, in cooperation with regional and international partners.

The Chairperson reiterated the African Union’s unwavering commitment to the unity, sovereignty, and stability of Sudan and its pursuit of a lasting political solution that ensures peace, development, and democratic rule for all Sudanese.
