Army Announces Downing of Drone Launched from Ethiopia
The Sudanese army announced on Saturday that it had shot down a drone near the city of Al-Damazin in the Blue Nile region in southeastern Sudan after it entered from Ethiopia.
On May 5, the Sudanese government said it possessed evidence proving Ethiopia’s involvement in the aggression against Sudan, stating that drone launch pads had been allocated at Bahir Dar Airport for attacks targeting civilian sites in Khartoum, Al-Gezira, White Nile, and North Kordofan states.
In a statement, the army said: “The Sudanese Armed Forces shot down a hostile drone near Al-Damazin after it crossed the border from the direction of Ethiopia.”
Local sources told Sudan Tribune that several parts of Al-Damazin witnessed loud explosions at dawn on Saturday as army air defenses engaged a drone flying over the area.
