Armed Men Kidnap RSF Fighters in Chad and Demand Ransom

Families and local sources revealed on Saturday that armed men had detained members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia inside Chad and demanded financial ransoms for their release.

The family of RSF fighter Ahmed told Darfur24 that armed Chadian men had detained their son and contacted the family, demanding three million CFA francs, equivalent to about 177 million Sudanese pounds, in exchange for his release.

The family, which lives in Nyala, said the armed men found their son and several other militia members lost inside Chadian territory in the border area between Sudan, Chad and Libya. They detained them and later demanded ransom payments for their release.

Four Sudanese and Chadian sources told Darfur24 that the convoy of combat vehicles targeted inside Chad in the Ennedi region belonged to the RSF militia and had come from Libya, taking a route toward Sudan through Chad.

The sources said a number of fighters were captured by armed Chadian elements following the strike, while others fled into Sudan and were captured by the joint force allied with the Sudanese Army.
