And again… American punishment

An Idea

 Dr. Abdel-Azim Awad

*The American decision to punish Sudan, represented by the Director General of the Defense Industries System, General Mirghani Suleiman Idris, on the pretext that Sudan, a sovereign state recognized internationally and of course by America, seeks to obtain weapons through manufacturing and importing in a way that preserves this sovereignty by acquiring all the reasons for power that help the state achieve stability, peace and the well-being of its people, is undoubtedly unjust and contrary to all rules of justice… Where is the problem here that makes America become enraged and exercise its power and authority over us, while it spends more than 50% of its national income on armament and military industries, and monopolizes most of the production of weapons, manufacturing and exporting…? Why is permissible for you and forbidden for us? Or is it the slander of the strong against the weak, which has become a characteristic of this unjust world?

*It is certain that America knows very well the eligibility, competence and professionalism of the Sudanese army, which is over a hundred years old… and knows for sure that it is now exercising its legitimate constitutional right to defend its land and protect its people against the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which America knows very well where it gets its weapons and mercenaries from and how, based on documented testimonies that are being shared every day through the international media, particularly the American media. However, it did nothing but punish a small criminal who is the younger brother of the militia leader, and he is just a shadow of the elephants that America knows very well.

*This stubborn American measure against Sudan was not the first to impose an arms embargo on Sudan under false pretenses. It had previously bombed the Al-Shifa pharmaceutical factory in 1997 on the mere suspicion that it was manufacturing chemical weapons based on a naive snitching by a clumsy Sudanese politician… After that, its protégé Israel bombed the Yarmouk weapons factory in the heart of Khartoum, which is a small factory for producing ammunition and some light weapons.

*It is also certain that America knows that Sudan has been manufacturing weapons since 1959, and that its advanced production in this strategic matter is no secret and it has nothing to hide. It was a major player in several international defense and military production exhibitions despite the blockade that was imposed on it. Its industries included most of the basic needs of its land, air and sea armed forces… It is also known that this defense industrial boom flourished under American sanctions, which only increased our determination to continue on the path of self-sufficiency so that we are not at the disposal of the American mood and Jewish satisfaction.

As for what the unjust American decision included in terms of cooperation with Russia or Iran in the fields of armament, we remind the American administration that Sudan has the right to deal and cooperate with whomever it wants in order to build its defense and security system that achieves its legitimate aspirations in preserving its sovereignty and defending its borders and lands. To this end, it is not satisfied with importing its defense needs only, but it can ally with whomever it wants from the countries of the world in order to achieve its interests.
*Sudan’s dealings in this strategic matter of armament and defense machineries are a right guaranteed by its sovereignty, far from conditions and dictates. Sudan had previously, during the era of former President Numeri, imported warplanes from America itself, and how those planes later became scrap when the Bush administration withheld spare parts from us as part of one of its successive sanctions on the Sudanese state. Therefore, it was natural for Sudan to choose to cooperate, in this regard, with those who respect its sovereignty and will without conditions or dictates.
