Al-Damazin and Tuti Island… Tragic Conditions and Isolation!!!

 Investigation: Al-Taj Osman

(Sudanese Echoes) obtained confirmed information through its sources from the cities of Damazin, Singa and Tuti Island… Serious and tragic incidents caused by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia made the residents of the said areas live in imminent danger and a great nightmare, which prompted some activists in those areas to launch a distress call to save the residents there before it is too late… The following investigation discloses more details

The Ordeal of Al-Damazin

The information that (Sudanese Echoes) obtained from its reliable sources from the city of Al-Damazin is truly disturbing, a complete lack of food supplies in the city due to the closure of the Singa-Al-Damazin road, which was controlled by the Janjaweed forces. This is in addition to the closure of food supply routes from Ethiopia due to the interruption of the roads linking it to Al-Damazin due to the rains. Therefore, Al-Damazin has become completely isolated, with no food, no medicine or fuel reaching it, which has caused food prices to rise to unprecedented levels that no area in Sudan has witnessed before. The price of four onions in Al-Damazin market, for instance, has jumped to 10,000 pounds (SDG) and the same thing applies to the rest of the food items. When this investigation is published, the cities of Al-Damazin and Rosaries may be completely empty of food, which puts the residents of the two cities at risk of starvation! The residents of A-Damazin tried to leave the city to Ethiopia, but they returned because the roads were cut off due to heavy rains. They had no choice but to head to Singa, then to the city of Al-Dindir and then to Al-Gadarif, but the Janjaweed in Singa prevented them from entering. The only way out for the residents of the city was to head to Sennar and Wad Al-Abbas and then to Al-Gadarif, which is a risky choice due to the presence of the Janjaweed militia. There is no solution other than liberating the city of Singa to open the Singa-Sennar-Rabak road to transport food supplies to the hungry residents of Al-Damazin, which is the only option for them, otherwise famine will strike them.

Tuti Tragedy

It is known to everyone that Tuti Island has been besieged by the outlaw RSF militia for more than (18) continuous months, where its residents cannot leave or enter it. Anyone who wants to leave must pay a (levy) of one million pounds, which has now risen to 6 million pounds per family, otherwise they will remain on the violated island to face oppression, humiliation, torture, terror and plundering practiced by the Janjaweed militia. The Janjaweed siege of the beautiful island has caused a severe shortage of food and medicine, even the hospices (takayas) that some of the youth of Tuti were establishing, which is the only source of food for the besieged residents, are now threatened with closure due to the lack of food supplies and the emptying of shops and markets after they were plundered by the Janjaweed, and the situation has worsened after the electricity outage since July 2023. The Tuti Sons Abroad Committee has launched an urgent appeal to save the residents of Tuti Island from the mass death that awaits them.

Tuti has turned into a large prison for its residents

As a result of hunger and the shortage of medicine, a wave of dangerous and deadly fevers has recently spread, leading to the death of several citizens at a rate of (5-6) deaths per day.
