Al-Burhan’s Adviser: Britain Shields UAE and Whitewashes Dagalo Family’s Image

Political and Foreign Relations Adviser to Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) President, Amjad Farid, criticized what he described as a “contradictory” British stance on the war in Sudan, accusing the UK government of expressing concern over potential violations by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in El-Obeid while simultaneously inviting figures he described as political fronts for the RSF and the “Tasis” alliance to attend the Wilton Park conference scheduled for July 22–24.

In a post on the X platform, Farid said Britain’s warnings regarding El-Obeid repeated “verbatim” the rhetoric that preceded the deadly events in El-Fasher. He argued that London was adopting a contradictory position by voicing concern over possible violations while providing political and diplomatic platforms for figures he described as RSF representatives.

He added that hosting those figures at the Wilton Park conference, which discusses Sudan’s future, represents—in his words—an attempt to “whitewash the militia’s image” and present it as a civilian actor, despite the accusations against it of committing violations during the conflict.

Farid accused the British government of pursuing a continued approach of “covering up the UAE’s role and downplaying the crimes of the RSF militia,” saying that this record, in his assessment, undermines any assumption of good faith in Britain’s position.

He concluded that “British diplomatic platforms do not erase the impact of bloodshed; rather, they serve as tools to whitewash it,” referring to the participation of figures linked to the RSF militia in the upcoming conference.
