Al-Burhan Directs Lifting Curfew in Khartoum and Easing Citizens’ Hardships

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, affirmed that the Sudanese Armed Forces represent all Sudanese people and perform their national duty of protecting the people and defending the country’s territory, sovereignty and resources. He stressed that the Armed Forces have continued to make great sacrifices and give their lives to protect the homeland and safeguard its security and stability.

Addressing a ceremony held by Khartoum State at the Khartoum State Legislative Council to mark the 72nd anniversary of Sudanese Armed Forces Day, Al-Burhan said that the Armed Forces are not an institution affiliated with any tribal group, political party or specific ethnic identity. Rather, they are a national institution that brings together the various components of Sudanese society in their ranks. He stressed that this diversity is one of the most important sources of the Armed Forces’ strength and ability to fulfill their national duty toward all Sudanese without discrimination.

Al-Burhan commended the Khartoum State Government, headed by Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza, for its steadfastness throughout the years of war and its determination to remain alongside citizens and provide essential services under the difficult circumstances imposed by the war. He said the state government had not limited itself to managing the crisis but had begun working to address the effects of the war and restore normal life to the capital.

The TSC President affirmed that the country’s leadership is aware of the hardships facing citizens, particularly those who have lost their livelihoods, property and personal belongings as a result of the war. He directed the Khartoum State Government to work to ease these hardships by expanding employment opportunities, supporting economic and commercial activities, reducing the burdens on business owners, and creating a suitable environment for them to resume their activities normally, thereby improving citizens’ living conditions.

Al-Burhan directed the Khartoum State Government to ease the burden on citizens and lift the curfew, affirming that the state is secure. He stressed the need to refrain from burdening citizens with excessive fees and called for an end to restrictions on tea sellers, warning that such restrictions discourage citizens from returning to Khartoum.
“We can see the people and the hardships they are facing,” Al-Burhan said, urging the authorities: “Ease the burden on the people.”
He added: “It is better for people to bear with one another until Allah brings relief.”
Al-Burhan also pledged to rehabilitate all hospitals in Khartoum.
