Al-Burhan Arrives in Rataj on the Sudanese-Egyptian Border, Pledges to Protect Citizens and Issues Warning
President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, arrived in the Rataj area on the Sudanese-Egyptian border, where he met with residents, community dignitaries, and local leaders.
Al-Burhan highlighted the values of peaceful coexistence and stability prevailing in eastern and northern Sudan, particularly between the Rashaida and Bisharin tribes, noting that the two communities have coexisted in Kassala, Al-Gadarif, and Red Sea states without any problems. He stressed that citizenship is the fundamental bond uniting all Sudanese across the country’s states.
He emphasized that the presence of the Armed Forces in these areas is intended to maintain security and stability and protect citizens, not to provoke conflict.
Al-Burhan also issued a stern warning to illegal armed groups, stressing that the state would show no tolerance for the unauthorized possession of weapons, the extortion of citizens, or encroachments on their property.
“Any individual carrying weapons outside the framework of the law or threatening the security of citizens will be dealt with firmly and decisively through the competent security and legal authorities; their weapons will be confiscated and they will be taken into custody,” he said.
Regarding the situation along the border strip, the TSC President urged citizens to comply with the administrative and legal regulations governing cross-border movement and cautioned against crossing the border through unofficial routes to avoid security and diplomatic complications.
Al-Burhan also addressed reports that some Sudanese citizens had been subjected to harassment or attacks in border areas, affirming that the state is following these reports with the utmost concern and is verifying and investigating all incidents to safeguard the rights and security of Sudanese citizens wherever they may be.
He stressed that the government bears full responsibility for the care and protection of its citizens.
