After dismissing its leader… SITUATION in NUP blows up on a regional basis

The situation burst within the National Umma Party (NUP) after the overthrow of the party’s acting leader, Fadlallah Burmah Nassuir, by the party’s presidency.

The head of the political bureau, Mohamed Al-Mahdi Hassan, rushed to challenge the party’s presidency’s decision and confirmed that Burma was assigned by the party’s political bureau and not by the presidency. Sources revealed that the explosion occurred on a regional and local basis. While it revealed the loyalty of the majority of the people of Darfur and Kordofan to Burmah, despite the appointment of the new president from Darfur (Mohamed Abdullah Al-Doma). But the party’s youth supported the dismissal process and, according to sources, rushed to dismiss Burmah and those who traveled with him to Nairobi from the party’s leadership and membership to sign the militia government from the party.

The NUP presidency had withdrawn confidence from the party leader Burmah Nassir on Monday night for signing a charter to form a parallel government affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSDF) militia.

The Presidency said, in a statement, that it had withdrawn confidence from Burmah and replaced him with Mohammed Abdullah Al-Doma to exercise the powers of the elected president and make his decision through the Presidency.

The Presidency indicated that it would hold consultations to arrange the party’s affairs, by inviting the rest of the institutions, including the Coordination Council, in order to obtain consensus on withdrawing confidence from Burmah Nassir.

The statement pointed out that Fadlallah Burmah Nassir, after being chosen by the Presidency, became a president assigned with an unconstitutional legitimacy based on consent, due to the silence of the organization’s constitution on who would succeed the president in the event of his death. It stated that the legitimacy of the consensus obliged Fadlallah Burmah Nassir to make his decisions through the Presidency, which has the right to question him.

Meanwhile, the head of the Political Bureau, Mohammed Al-Mahdi, said in a statement received by (Sudanese Echoes), that Burmah was assigned by the Political Bureau and not by his deputies, assistants and advisors, stressing that the main institutions of the party are the General Conference, the party president, the Central Authority, the Political Bureau and the General Secretariat.

Al-Mahdi asserted that the Political Bureau is the first political authority in the party and acts as the central body and the general conference during the period between the two sessions and exercises its original and temporary powers.

Al-Mahdi pointed out that the presidency is a horizontal body formed by the party president by his decision and under his umbrella and command, and its occupants are responsible to the party president, who appoints and dismisses them.

Al-Mahdi challenged the powers of the presidency and said that the vice presidents, his assistants and his advisors are his assistants and do not have powers according to the party constitution to dismiss or remove the president.

Al-Mahdi concluded that Burmah Nassir is the party president entrusted with the president’s constitutional powers, while the violations attributed to him are political assessments and are subject to institutional review.
