African Union to hold extraordinary summit on Sudan
A diplomatic source disclosed to Al Jazeera Channel that the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU-PSC) will hold an extraordinary summit on Sudan in mid-February.
The source explained that the summit – which will be held at the level of heads of state and government – aims to assess the current situation in Sudan, discuss the rapid developments, and develop a roadmap to achieve a ceasefire.
This summit comes after the victories achieved by the Sudanese army over the Rapid Support Forces in recent days by lifting the siege on the headquarters of the army’s general command and the signal corps and regaining control over most of the city of Bahri, north of Khartoum, the city of Om Rawaba in North Kordofan State, and the city of Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Gezira State.
