Abdel Rahim Dagalo Targeted in Assassination Attempt in Ethiopia
Sudanese Echoes – Intelligence agencies affiliated with the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia are concealing reports and classified information indicating that Abdel Rahim Dagalo, the militia’s second-in-command, was targeted in an assassination attempt that left him wounded by gunfire late last week.
Special sources in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, told Shahed Ayan that Dagalo was targeted by gunfire from a 6 mm pistol in one of the suburbs surrounding the Ethiopian town of Assosa, near the Sudanese border.
According to the same sources, the assassination attempt took place shortly before a scheduled meeting between Abdel Rahim Dagalo and Joseph Tuka, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in the Blue Nile Region. The meeting was due to take place in one of the border villages classified as an active area for foreign intelligence operatives and networks involved in arms and illicit goods trafficking.
According to the sources, Abdel Rahim Dagalo was hurriedly evacuated and transported to the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, to receive the necessary medical care following the incident. Ethiopian intelligence services also intervened directly to investigate the circumstances of the attack, identify those responsible and establish their identities.
Informed sources believe that the shooting was carried out by elements affiliated with the RSF itself, reflecting a dangerous escalation in internal divisions and purges among the leadership and members of the rebel militia.
