A Dangerous Rift Within the Militia’s Ranks

Sources have revealed a fierce and pivotal confrontation in Ed Daein between Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Abdel Rahim Dagalo and tribal leaders and prominent figures of the Rizeigat tribe. The tribal leaders delivered harsh criticism of the militia’s leadership over its neglect of wounded and injured fighters and the deterioration of their health conditions, while declaring their outright rejection of any new mobilization in the area.

The meeting featured blunt remarks from the tribal leaders about the impossibility of mobilizing their sons to fight again, pointing to the growing number of paralyzed and amputee fighters and the failure to provide them with medical treatment. One of them confronted Dagalo sharply, urging him to personally visit the villages and Furqan and speak to the women to persuade them to send their sons to the fighting, stressing that popular acceptance of the militia and mobilization efforts in Darfur had decisively declined.

Dagalo, in turn, levelled accusations against the tribal leaders of colluding with the Sudanese Army and threatened to transfer them to Daqris Prison. The threats triggered angry interruptions and an outright rejection of his approach before the Nazar intervened to defuse the situation.

Dagalo subsequently left Ed-Daein, while the militia launched a broad campaign of arrests targeting tribal and administrative leaders, most recently the detention of Tribal Leader Al-Tom Musa in Nyala.
