Joint Forces: Sudan’s Core Crisis Is the Existence of Multiple Armies; ‎We Will Not Become a New RSF

Major General Mohamed Al-Tom, a member of the Command-and-‎Control leadership of the Joint Forces in Khartoum Sector, has affirmed ‎that the fundamental crisis facing Sudan lies in the problem of ‎‎“multiple armies”. He stressed that the Joint Forces would under no ‎circumstances turn into a new version of the Rapid Support Forces ‎‎(RSF) militia, but operate under the umbrella of the state’s legitimate ‎military authority.‎

In remarks to Al-Onwan 24, Major General Al-Tom explained that the ‎Joint Forces stand alongside the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on the ‎same front. He stated unequivocally: “Our forces do not undertake any ‎field movements except on the orders and instructions of the Armed ‎Forces Command.” He also pointed to the Joint Forces’ extensive ‎deployment and operational presence across Sudan’s states and ‎regions.‎

Al-Tom stressed that the forces are not fighting for financial or political ‎gains, but have made immense sacrifices in the lives of their personnel ‎and military equipment to protect the Sudanese people. He described ‎the current situation in the country as “a direct war waged by the RSF ‎against Sudanese citizens and the country’s vital assets”.‎

He revealed that the current focus is entirely on achieving a military ‎resolution and managing field operations, while the issue of ‎integrating the Joint Forces will be considered at a later stage, after ‎the end of military operations.‎
