Secret Plans Underway to Relocate Hemedti’s Residence to Nairobi
Informed sources within the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia have revealed that secret arrangements are being made under tight secrecy to relocate the militia commander, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), from the Darfur city of Nyala to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, with the plans known only to a very small circle of his close associates among the militia’s leadership.
According to the sources, as quoted by Shahed Ayan, the main motivation behind the anticipated move is Hemedti’s desire to be closer to the main hub of his business operations and economic interests concentrated in Kenya, and to manage and secure those assets directly under the current circumstances.
According to the information, preparations for the departure have accelerated following a state of deep apprehension and concern among Hemedti’s inner circle over the recent diplomatic rapprochement between Sudan and Kenya. This followed the fruitful meeting between Prime Minister Kamil Idris and Kenyan President William Ruto on the sidelines of the COMESA summit in Harare, Zimbabwe. The sources said there are fears that any positive development in relations between the two countries could threaten the militia’s economic interests and lead to their loss.
Meanwhile, the sources indicated that Abdel-Rahim Dagalo is also making arrangements to join his brother and leave with him, following an internal consensus among senior militia leaders to take precautionary measures and move out of the area to ensure their presence away from potential danger.
