Army Advances in West Darfur, Recaptures Strategic Area
West Darfur (Sudanese Echoes) – West Darfur State Wali Musa Bahr-Eddin Karama on Wednesday confirmed that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Joint Force had taken control of the strategic area of Bir Kleikel Mountain, east of Jebel Moon in West Darfur State.
Karama said the recapture of Bir Kleikel, located in the eastern part of Jebel Moon locality, represents an important victory for the Sudanese state and a strategic step towards extending state sovereignty and restoring security across the state, given the area’s geographical location and strategic importance in the vicinity of Jebel Moon.
He stressed that operations along the West Darfur front were proceeding steadily in accordance with established plans, as part of national efforts to restore security and safeguard Sudan’s unity and sovereignty.
The Wali affirmed that the state government would continue to support all efforts aimed at protecting civilians, alleviating their suffering, and paving the way for the return of normal life, stability, reconstruction and development.
He added that the objective extended beyond restoring security to building a stable environment in which citizens’ dignity and rights would be protected, conditions would be created for the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees, public services would be restored, and the people of West Darfur could move towards a better future.
Earlier this month, the Joint Force took control of the Bir Seleiba area following fighting against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
