Warplanes Destroy Militia Convoy, Kill Field Commander Abdullah Tiya

The Sudanese Armed Forces’ Air Force carried out a swift and precision air operation in what is known as the “closed kill box” in West Kordofan State, destroying an entire military convoy belonging to the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and killing one of the militia’s prominent field commanders in the area.

Military sources familiar with the operation said fighter jets carried out precise and direct strikes against a large RSF military convoy while it was moving along Al-Dankoj–Kadam Road, completely destroying the vehicles and armored equipment and killing all those aboard.

The sources confirmed that the successful airstrike killed prominent RSF field commander Abdullah Tiya, who was regarded as one of the area’s leading tribal figures among the Misseiriya.

The biography of the slain rebel commander, Abdullah Tiya, reflects notable shifts in his political and military positions. He was previously a member of the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement and signed a peace agreement with the Sudanese government in Lagawa in 2014, before deciding to betray that pledge, renege on the agreement, and join the ranks of the Rapid Support Forces following the outbreak of the war in April last year.
