Government “War” on Gold Mafia and Currency Traders, Led by Defence Minister

A ministerial committee tasked with developing clear recommendations to address violations harmful to the national economy held its first meeting at the Ministry of Finance, chaired by Defence Minister Lieutenant General Hassan Dawood Kabroun.

The meeting discussed a range of serious violations damaging to the national economy, most notably the activities of companies and organizations involved in foreign currency transactions and trading, as well as violations related to import and export activities, export proceeds, and gold smuggling.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Justice, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, the Director of Customs, and the Director of Economic Intelligence.

Participants identified the violations requiring intervention and the challenges that need to be addressed.

The committee is expected to submit its recommendations on violations and activities harmful to the economy to the relevant higher authorities in the coming period, paving the way for the adoption of strict decisions and directives aimed at protecting the national economy and strengthening its capacity.

The committee was established by a decision of the Transitional Prime Minister and includes all relevant government authorities and institutions.
