SAF and Joint Force Seize Strategic Area Near El-Geneina

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Joint Force of the Armed Struggle Movements took full control of the strategic area of Abu Sorooj in Sirba locality, West Darfur State, on Saturday evening, following fierce battles against the rebel militia.

Abu Sorooj is located approximately 35 kilometers from El-Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State.

Field sources said the forces had established full control over the area and launched extensive sweep operations to secure the surroundings of Sirba locality and clear the area of remaining pockets of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and fleeing fighters, who suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment.
