Al-Burhan’s Adviser: RSF Militia Preparing to Commit Massacre in Al-Nohod

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has ordered the closure of all public markets in Al-Nohod, West Kordofan State, and the indefinite shutdown of satellite internet networks, including Starlink.

The move coincided with the arrival of military reinforcements belonging to the militia in the area from Darfur, with the intention of advancing toward North Kordofan, according to military sources.

The Dar Hamar Emergency Room said in a statement that the RSF militia had issued a coercive order to close all public markets and satellite communications networks across Al-Nohod locality starting Wednesday, for an indefinite period.

The statement said the decision came as Al-Nohod is already facing deteriorating security and living conditions.

It added that disrupting satellite internet services would hinder residents and displaced families from communicating with their relatives, affect the receipt of financial transfers, and disrupt access to daily necessities amid difficulties in obtaining basic services.

The statement accused the militia of imposing tight security restrictions on residents, while carrying out repeated looting operations and harassment targeting civilians.

It warned of the humanitarian and economic consequences of closing markets and disrupting communications, saying that the continuation of such measures could further worsen residents’ suffering and deepen the isolation imposed on the area.

It called on local authorities, regional and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently and exert pressure to protect civilians and ensure their continued access to markets, communications and essential services.

Meanwhile, Amjad Farid, political adviser to the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), warned of the possibility that the militia could commit a massacre in Al-Nohod following a decision to shut down internet and Wi-Fi networks and ban the use of Starlink devices in the city.

In a post on X, Farid said the militia was preparing to commit a massacre in Al-Nohod, warning that cutting the city off from the outside world could precede the commission of crimes against civilians.
