The End of the “King of Dirty Missions”: Army Drone Strike Eliminates Al-Dagalo Militia “Butcher”
Yousef Abkarank, one of the militia’s most prominent commanders, known by the titles “Al-Dagalo Family’s Butcher” and “King of Dirty Missions,” has died from injuries sustained at a hospital in Nyala after being wounded in a drone attack in the western Kordofan axis.
Sources said that the commander of the Janjaweed militia, Mohamed Hamdan Hemedti, rushed to visit him at the hospital and brought in a specialized medical team, but efforts to save his life ultimately failed.
Abkarank was known for committing widespread violations. According to testimonies by survivors on social media, he was responsible for the torture and killing of detainees in Khartoum, resulting in the deaths of dozens of detainees as a consequence of daily torture operations.
He also served as the second-in-command of Al-Jaili Refinery area and supervised the Riyadh and Soba detention centers before fleeing Khartoum for Nyala, where he was targeted by the drone last Monday.
