Kauda Completely Emptied of Its Population

A religious leader and two other people were killed in Kauda, an area in South Kordofan State under the control of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), following an attack by an armed force.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur24 on Saturday that armed personnel in vehicles stormed the area, forcibly displaced a large number of civilians from their homes and took them to the Karmaba Camp. They said the force completely emptied the town and began destroying homes and shops.

The witnesses said the attack resulted in the deaths of Sheikh Jamal Musa, imam of Kauda Above Mosque, trader Mohamed Idris, and a third person.

They said the area is experiencing a state of chaos due to the authorities’ insistence on resolving conflicts through military means while ignoring the deteriorating humanitarian and economic conditions resulting from the conflict.
