Army Announces Completion of Major Operations in Kordofan, Signals “Comprehensive Ground Offensive”

The command of the 5th Infantry Division (Special Operations Forces) operating along Al-Khuwai and Al-Nohod axes has announced that its combat and offensive units have completed what it described as “decisive and complex” military operations against elements of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in areas of North and West Kordofan.

In an operational briefing, the division command said its special teams had successfully returned to their positions following cumulative operations that continued for more than 10 consecutive days.

It said the forces, in coordination with the Sudanese Air Force, had prepared the ground for infantry operations and inflicted heavy losses on the militia in personnel and equipment.

The military statement announced the beginning of a new combat phase, saying the return of the special teams would directly pave the way for infantry formations, through dozens of mobile combat units, to launch a “comprehensive ground offensive” involving the use of decisive and lethal force to end the militia’s presence in the area.

The Special Operations Command stressed that it had given those misled into joining the militia sufficient advice and opportunity to surrender and lay down their arms.

It also reassured the Sudanese people and the people of Kordofan that the full recovery of the territory and restoration of State control were drawing near.
