Al-Atta Declares Zero Hour: “Not a Single Janjaweed Will Remain by Year-End”

General Yasser Al-Atta, Chief of Staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces, vowed on Monday that government forces would regain control of all areas of the country before the end of the year.

Speaking at a camp of the Sahwa Council forces in the presence of senior military commanders, Al-Atta said military operations would begin simultaneously on all fronts, applying the same strategy used to liberate Khartoum in the Kordofan region. “Before the end of this year, there will not be a single Janjaweed in Sudan, nor will there be any foreign mercenary,” he said.

Al-Atta also instructed Major General Al-Nour Al-Qubba to prepare his forces for deployment, adding that all operational fronts would move at the same time to achieve the declared objective.

In the same context, Al-Atta questioned the description of senior military leaders as remnants of the former regime, saying: “Does it make sense that Al-Burhan, Kabashi, Yasser Al-Atta, and Musa Hilal are remnants?”
He added that the army has never been part of any political party, arguing that those described as “remnants” were members of the National Congress Party, while the Sudanese Armed Forces represent the Sudanese nation as a whole.
