Report Reveals Details of Secret Visit by Hamdok-Led Coalition to Tel Aviv

An intelligence investigation published on Monday revealed that a delegation from the Somoud Coalition, led by former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, made a secret visit to Tel Aviv in late June. The delegation included Khalid Omer Yousif, Babiker Faisal, and Taha Osman Ishaq. The visit was arranged through Emirati mediation, according to the Africa Intelligence and Dark Box platforms.

The sources said that former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, the coalition’s leader, declined to participate after being informed of the meeting by an Israeli official. Babiker Faisal was questioned for four hours at Cairo International Airport upon his return before being released by the Egyptian authorities.

The investigation stated that the visit was conducted under strict secrecy and that even some members of the coalition were unaware of it. It added that Hamdok had previously rejected similar steps out of concern over their political repercussions.

According to the investigation, the visit formed part of a broader plan to promote the Somoud Coalition as the civilian alternative to govern Sudan in the post-war period, while presenting the Sudanese Armed Forces to Israeli officials as being aligned with Islamist movements and portraying the coalition as a credible civilian partner.

The investigation concluded that these political developments should be viewed within the broader context of two parallel tracks: a military track linked to developments on the battlefield and a political track aimed at shaping Sudan’s post-conflict governance. It also noted the continuing international debate over the UAE’s role in Sudan, despite Abu Dhabi’s repeated denials.
